Natural Pond
Project Status: Prepping the Area
Location: Becker, MN
The Challenge: We're embarking on an exciting project in Becker, Minnesota, focused on transforming a .25-acre area currently dominated by a monoculture of invasive reed canary grass surrounding a pond. This lack of plant diversity limits habitat for local wildlife and reduces the overall ecological value of the space.
Our Goals:
Boost Plant Diversity: Our primary aim is to introduce a rich mix of native plant species, creating a more resilient and vibrant ecosystem.
Enhance Wildlife Activity: By increasing plant diversity, we'll provide a greater variety of food sources and shelter, aiming to attract and support a wider range of wildlife.
Project Timeline:
Spring 2025: Area Preparation Underway! We're currently in the initial phase of prepping the site. This crucial step involves carefully managing the existing reed canary grass to create the optimal conditions for native plant establishment. Stay tuned for updates on our progress as we prepare the ground for a biodiverse future!
